Belo Garden, the second park in the Downtown Parks Master Plan to be completed, is the result of a partnership and joint funding effort by Belo Corp., The Belo Foundation, Maureen and Robert Decherd, and the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department. The construction of Belo Garden began in March of 2011 and the park opened to the public in May 2012.

Where Belo Garden is today once stood a former parking lot. The City of Dallas was awarded two grants to clean up the site, one from the North Central Texas Council of Governments and one from the Environmental Protection Agency. The land now meets the highest environmental and residential standards. Belo Garden is a park that is of Texas and for Texas. For more information on sustainability, click here.
